What stick does Ilya Kovalchuk use?
Russian winger Ilya Kovalchuk was one of the NHL's most feared scorers of the 2000s, lighting the lamp with regularity for the Thrashers and Devils before heading back to the KHL & SKA Saint Petersburg during the 2012-13 NHL lockout.
Kovy was known as an innovator when it came to sticks and on-ice style, and had a sweet custom red & white Widow graphic on this twig from his New Jersey days, despite it appearing to be more like a Dolomite in build.
Kovalchuk tinkered with a number of different toe curves throughout his career - in this case, using one comparable to a P28, but with a significantly larger toe bend (after all, he did have a reputation for using illegal curves in his earlier career).
The shaft is finished with a light textured grip, and has a nice tapered paint job that highlights the custom IK17 logo on the front of the stick.
