What stick does Eric Staal use?
Earlier this week, Eric Staal was named captain of Canada's 2022 Olympic Men's Hockey Team. Having previously won Gold at Vancouver 2010, Canada will be hoping he can turn back the clock and lead them to another medal in Beijing.
Staal's curve is comparable to a P92, but the bend starts a little earlier resulting in a slightly deeper pocket and bigger toe hook. 102 flex is about what you'd expect from a veteran like Staal, and the tactile corner grip is a nice touch as well.
This One95 build stick with Supreme 1S graphic likely dates to his Carolina days, but it seems as though Staal is still sticking with the One95 construction on newer sticks with Ultrasonic graphics. At the 2010 Games, he used the One95 build with original graphics, and for him to still be using it 12+ years later is further proof that using the latest and greatest technology isn't always what matters most in a twig.
