I was at a friend’s place for a BBQ a while back and noticed he was using utensils made out of his own hockey sticks. He thought the set was awesome and told me that a bunch of the guys on his team had them made up.
In the typical small world of hockey, my brother Dustin knows Josh Lutz, the owner of Hat Trick BBQ Canada, and he got me my very own set. I have been putting them to the test all summer, and here is what I discovered:
- Quality Craftsmanship - They are well constructed, aren't going to fall apart or break, and they function like a quality BBQ set.
- Heat Resistant Handles - One of my original concerns was that the stick handles might get too hot when close to the grill. Luckily, the composition of the composite stick doesn't heat up like metal so the sticks serve as good handles.
- Great Gifts - Every time I brought these out to use during the summer, someone would always mention how great of a gift these would be. Definitely consider this set the next time a birthday or Christmas season rolls around.
- Go Green - A lot of folks recognized that this is a green initiative and really liked that part of it as well. To date, Hat Trick BBQ has re-purposed over 23,000 hockey sticks that would otherwise be headed to landfills
Overall I was really impressed, enough so to start partnering with Hat Trick BBQ Canada!
I was going help build the sets myself but I think it’s best if I 'stick' (knee slap) to doing what I do best. Instead, my partnership with Hat Trick BBQ Canada will enable you guys to get a BBQ set for a cheaper rate and no added shipping costs the next time you order a stick off of me. That way, everyone wins.
Cheers,
HockeyStickMan
